The announcement of joy, delight and sarcasm; story of life and living is alive in Farhad’s work. He observes human life with a vision of positivity and narrative approach. The idea of this show of Farhad Hussain is not about bringing up the documentation of his work, whereas the core concept is to synthesize between the style of work and simplifying the forms. Modern art movements like NeoPlasticism have given a major break to the application of naked colours. The intensity of making the volume raised the out-put of light and shade; which very effectively made things more visually identical and appealing too.
Farhad’s idea of defining the depth, perspective and volume in the painting is an anti-thesis by few means. Farhad’s painting’s out breaks the classical theory of introducing the depth in the paintings. He finds the colours as his major canon to uphold the elemental factors in his works.
Cut-Paste very functionally relates to the digital vocabulary which is applied to the paper cutting process as well. Farhad’s works seem as a multiple colour collage by a different visual inference. This particular application of direct colour without smudging the edges and not even spotting the highlights performs the same function or idea in our visual memory (from where we inherit the identity of depth, volume etc.).
Functionally cut-paste is a very easy process to reduce our efforts while performing our work. In fact it has formed a taboo of ease-ful jobs, which very effectively relates to Farhad’s own statements. His paintings dwell on the human figure and are the narrative where each figure is interrelated to the other. Though, on a quick glance, one may feel awestruck by their presence, each figure is an integral part of the work. Each having a personality, which nurtures the narrative; with an extreme personal desire. So in a way very personal attachment/ involvement in the works makes him “Cut-paste” his dreams/ desires.
The show of recent paintings and sculptures of Farhad will showcase a different view point of the beholder, because here the main aspect deals with the fact that it’s always not storytelling.
In terms of structure and concepts these recent works deal with more thought provocative intricacies. The underlying sublimity of humor and irony betray the true experience of the artist. Vibrant colours and bright backdrops are a trademark of the artist. These bright colours remain flat with minute textile patterning for detailing in all his paintings.
