Bandana Kumari
Originating from Khagaul, Bihar, Bandana obtained her Fine Arts Bachelor’s degree from Patna University’s College of Arts and Crafts. She is the two-time recipient of the esteemed Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation Award. Additionally, she has been granted the National Scholarship by the Indian Ministry of Culture.
Bandana’s works are infused with her passion with Bihar’s popular folk art, particularly the Madhubani painting style. Her characters, who are primarily female, and the elaborate themes that embellish their features convey a feeling of oneness with nature and emphasise the image of a strong lady, or Meri Sherni Beti, as her father called her.
