Neeraj Goswami
Neeraj, who was born in Patna in 1964, attended Delhi School of Art for his final studies. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree, and the government honoured him for his important artistic contribution. In 1988, Neeraj was presented with the Bharat Bhavan Award during the Second Biennial of Contemporary Indian Art. In the same year, he was also granted the Lalit Kala Research Grant Fellowship. Apart from this, Goswami has been in high demand as a painter of portraits and murals. Neeraj is now at the forefront of Indian modern art, and his pieces are part of numerous collections both domestically and outside, after numerous significant camps and exhibitions. The energy that stems from life and acute perception is what distinguishes Neeraj Goswami’s murals and paintings. Neeraj Goswami has created his own style, disregarding the current trends, yet remaining true to these principles. He has established himself as a provocative artist whose pieces are replete with conflicts—either between men and women or between people and their surroundings. His paintings are unparalleled in their depiction of the diverse realities he witnesses around him, thanks to his exceptional eye for detail and sharp sense of observation.
Neeraj has transformed the oil medium into his own, bringing an exceptional brilliance and freshness to it. Neeraj Goswami adds a soft glow to his paintings by utilising the tones of Celadon Porcelain and Onyx Styrations. His paintings have a translucency rarely seen, glistening like priceless stones. His characters seem nearly ready to step off the canvas because of this overwhelming haze. Neeraj Goswami is one of the most sought-after artists of his generation because of the liveliness and lifelike pictures in his paintings.
