George Martin

George Martin, a North Shore-based award-winning painter and graphic designer, was born in Massachusetts in 1951. After graduating from Boston’s Vesper George School of Art, he trained under renowned Boston artists such as Charles Cooper, Robert Douglas Hunter, and Robert Cormier. The Vesper George Scholarship was given to her. He later established himself as a productive graphic designer for several large companies and design studios, including Giardini/Russell, Fader, Jones+Zarkades, IBM/Lotus, and Polaroid Corporation. George started painting professionally in 2005, and his work is becoming more and more well-known. He belongs to both the Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Arts Association as an artist. He was President of the North Shore Arts Council from 2011 to 2012 and a member of the board of trustees. His narrative art, which is a superb blend of realistic and imaginative figuration, appears to be heavily influenced by traditional iconography from his home region of Jharkhand. Using vivid and subtly contrasting colours, the artist draws out the underlying emotions of his subjects, which include men and women, animals and plants, objects, and hybrid forms. Decorative themes and motifs embellish his figuration, whether in human form or from the animal world, some relating to folk stories and others appearing to belong in the world of science fiction.
