Ramesh Gorjala
A divine artist, Ramesh Gorjala was born in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh in 1979. He graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad with a Bachelor’s degree in painting. His work emphasises on traditional Indian heritage and culture, with delicate and detailed mythical depictions of many Indian gods and goddesses. Gorjala uses a delicate and elaborate method to depict his spiritual take on Indian mythological issues through both imagery and process. His choice of a palette dominated by gold, red, and green lends a rich and natural feel to each of his works, and the moods he can create and transmit give an antique yet current dynamism to his work. His subjects, primarily the gods, goddesses, and legendary figures of the South Asian pantheon, such as Hanuman, Vishnu, and Buddha, are all shown with remarkable sensitivity and precision. Gorjala’s pieces do not always feature a single, huge protagonist. Instead, he blends subjects, combining many images into a larger character rather than just one figure. This is occasionally linked together by text fragments, which appear in the backdrop of his surfaces and provide a new dimension to them. Another recurring theme in his work is a checkerboard pattern of black and white and grey in the background, which adds an authentic and modern touch to compositions with a mostly traditional and spiritual atmosphere.
