Seema Kohli
Seema Kohli, who was born in 1960, has spent the last 35 years carving out a position for herself in the field of contemporary art. Her creative output is diverse and includes paintings, murals, films, immersive installation performances, sculptures, and installations, all of which are individual expressions of her style. She has gradually infused her work with a synthesis of her distinct sensibilities. A redefining of feminine sexuality and a claim to feminine subjectivity may be seen in Kohli’s works. Her creations highlight the qualities of a woman’s body, mind, ideas, dreams, and reality. Her work is a celebration of intimacy, sensuality, and beauty. Her work, which uses oils on canvas, inks, mixed media, ceramics, and prints, has won admirers all over the world and reinvented the fundamental elements of Indian figurative painting. More than thirty solo exhibitions by Seema Kohli have taken place in various cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Dubai, Singapore, London, New York, and Brussels. She has taken part in art fairs in Hong Kong, Basel, Beijing, Madrid, India, and International Biennials in Venice, Shanghai, and India. Her paintings are displayed as 10′ by 100′ murals at the Mumbai International/Domestic Airport and T3 Delhi International Airport. Her artwork can be found in the collections of the Kochi Museum of Arts, MOSA-Brussels, Rubin’s Museum, Melinda Bill Gates Foundation, and National Gallery of Modern Art, Bangalore. She is employed and resides in New Delhi.
