Sukanta Das
Sukanta Das was born in 1973, raised in West Bengal, and graduated from Rabindra Bharti University in Kolkata in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. He has performed in several solo and group performances. He has received numerous honours for his talent, most notably an Honourable Mention from the Avantika Art Society in 2003. Sukanta adeptly conveys emotions on canvas with her mixed-media drawings. Though artistic, his figures compel the observer to conjure up tales about the woman. Take note of their attire and the artwork on them.
Drawing inspiration from the Mughal miniature, Sukanta creates an intriguing portrait that seems to connect the subject to a myth or a bygone era. At this point, the observer starts to detect calligraphy in the backdrop and believes that the miniatures are upside down. As an artist, he seems unconcerned with the overarching meaning, which he lets the audience figure out for themselves. But as a painter, he does pay attention to the nuances, which he skillfully captures on the canvas. The smile, eyelashes, and eyes are all expertly drawn. His work appeals to all genders due to its overall simplicity, sensuality, and accurate figure portrayal.
